OVERVIEW:

As students navigate the intricate concepts of sustainability and resilience, it's vital to offer them opportunities to apply their learning in practical settings, such as animal agriculture. This webinar, featuring the Food and Agriculture Center for Science Education’s Task Library, explores the use of phenomena-based science assessments tailored to agricultural scenarios. Participants will explore how to implement 3D assessments aligned with the NGSS framework, focusing on tasks that prompt students to apply their knowledge to new situations. Through the examination of sample tasks and best practices, educators will gain insights into fostering deeper understanding and mastery of agricultural concepts.

OUTCOMES:

  • Educators will gain insights into implementing phenomena-based science assessments that promote the application of learned concepts in agricultural science.
  • Participants will explore sample tasks and resources to support the integration of effective 3D assessments aligned with the NGSS framework.
  • Attendees will leave equipped with strategies and tools to facilitate students' transfer of knowledge to new phenomena, demonstrating understanding across all three dimensions of the NGSS.

Target Grade Range: Ideal for educators working with students across all grade levels.
