Expenses Covered

  • Up to $750 of approved travel expenses reimbursed.

    ( Approved expenses include flight, mileage, rental car, public transportation, food en-route. Alcoholic beverages will not be reimbursed. Additional details will be provided to selected applicants.)

  • Hotel accommodations for 4 nights (single occupancy)
  • All meals during event
  • Transportation to tours during event
  • All supplies and resources

Pre/Post Tour Webinars with STEM Director and Team

To build a common vision and engage in initial design tasks, participating teams will begin working closely with the OTF STEM community. Participants will engage in a three-part webinar series and complete an asynchronous activity between each webinar:

Relevance, Authenticity, and Identity in Science Education

Evaluating Agricultural Phenomena and Problems

Seeking Team Leaders

The 2022 On the Farm program is designed for teams of middle and high school science professionals. We are currently seeking leaders who will recruit teams of three to six members who meet the following requirements:.

  • Two to four current MS & HS life science educator(s) who teach courses designed for the Next Generation Science Standards
  • A school or district level instructional leader who supports high school science
  • A school or district level administrator who oversees science based CTE instruction
  • A community partner with a passion for improving agricultural literacy including university faculty members, math and science centers, businesses who work closely with schools, local educational farms, etc. (optional)

One individual should complete an initial application on behalf of their team. After the team leader application is completed and approved, each team member will be sent a link to complete their own individual application. All applications (from the team lead and each identified team member) must be received by Friday, March 11 2022.

If you work as a STEM coordinator or coach at a district or university, or otherwise work in an education leadership role, this may be a great fit!

New to The Farm?
These events are designed with you in mind! Come explore and engage in purposeful dialogue to discover real-world applications of education concepts on the farm.

Non-Traditional Educators
If you work at a children’s museum, outdoor learning center, or other education effort outside the classroom, this may be a great fit!

Are You All Ag?
If you come from the agriculture industry, or other agricultural literacy organizations, we would love for you to spread the word about this opportunity to friends and colleagues who are not as experienced with agriculture. In 2022, the program will not be accepting applications from Agriculture Teachers.

Tour Size
This year we will be targeting about five teams, two from Middle School teams and two or three from High School.
