STEM Immersive Experience

Available only to Washington and Oregon State Educators

Oregon Dairy and Nutrition Council is hosting an NGSS On the Farm STEM immersive experience for district curriculum directors, administrators, and high school science educators to learn the science of dairy. This immersive experience brings together teams of science educators with experts in science education and agricultural science to envision a model for science learning that will inspire today’s students, our next generation of scientists and citizens, to take action and feel empowered to use agriculture to improve society.

This all-expenses-paid event covers a mileage stipend at the current IRS rate and all costs associated with lodging and meal expenses.

Overview

• WHAT:
  • Two webinars prior to the immersive experience (Time commitment in whole – 3 hours)
  • Pre-work and post-work assignments for the webinars (Time commitment in whole – 5 hours)
  • A four-day three-night travel experience of visiting farms, participating in in-person meetings, and enjoying group meals in and around Willamette Valley, Oregon from August 15 - 18, 2023. (Travel and all costs associated with lodging and meal expenses will be covered for each participant.)
  • One post-event webinar (Time commitment – 1.5 hours)

• CREDITS: Earn up to 40 CEU of professional development hours.

Expenses Covered

• Travel and all costs associated with lodging and meal expenses will be covered for each participant. A mileage stipend at the current IRS rate will also be provided for selected participants.

Tour Expectation

• The tour event will occur rain or shine, so prepare accordingly. Likewise, the tour event requires walking and some climbing up and down stairs at some locations.
